Remove text from an image
AI finds it, you redact it

Strip sensitive text out of any image without uploading it. RedactPix scans your image locally with on-device AI, finds emails, phone numbers, names, and ID-like numbers, then lets you blackout, blur, or mosaic each one with a click.

Why use RedactPix to remove text from image?

AI-powered text detection — on your device

A local OCR + NLP model scans for emails, phone numbers, URLs, card numbers, names, addresses, and dates. All detection runs in-browser — no data leaves your machine.

Three masking options per text block

Each detected text region can be blacked out (solid box), blurred, or pixelated independently. Pick the method that matches the sensitivity level.

Review before you export

Every detected item appears in a list with the extracted text and confidence score. Toggle items on or off, then export a single clean PNG.

How to remove text from image — step by step

From raw image to safely redacted file in four steps.

Step 01

Open your image or screenshot

Upload a photo, scan, or screenshot. The image stays in your browser — RedactPix never uploads it.

Step 02

Click "Scan for Private Info"

On-device AI runs OCR and a PII classifier to find sensitive text. Detected items appear in a side panel with their content and type.

Step 03

Review and adjust

Check the detected items. Uncheck any false positive. Assign a masking method (blackout, blur, or mosaic) to each. Add manual boxes if needed.

Step 04

Download the clean image

Export a flattened PNG with all selected text removed. Metadata is stripped. The original text cannot be recovered from the output.

Frequently asked questions

What types of text can RedactPix detect and remove?
The AI scan detects emails, phone numbers, URLs, credit-card-like numbers, names, addresses, dates, and other personally identifiable text. Detection is on-device and may miss some items — always review before exporting.
Does removing text with RedactPix work on screenshots?
Yes. Screenshots are one of the best use cases. Paste a screenshot directly, scan for private info, and redact usernames, emails, and URLs before sharing.
Is blackout safer than blur for hiding text?
Yes. A solid black box fully replaces the original pixels. Blur or light mosaic can sometimes leave enough detail to be reconstructed, so blackout is recommended for sensitive text like passwords or ID numbers.
Can I remove text manually without the AI scan?
Absolutely. Draw a box over any text you want hidden and apply blackout, blur, or mosaic. The AI scan is optional — manual control is always available.
